The December Scarf

Hat, Sweater, & Booties: Target // Scarf: Stolen from my Husband (similar)

I can't think of anything more appropriate in December than a cozy sweater and a pretty plaid scarf. Scarves like this one happen to be rather popular at the moment and lucky for me, my husband has had this one for years. I think it came with a coat he bought or something, but he's never worn it so I've claimed it as my own. I love it's bright and cheery colors against an otherwise neutral outfit. It's the perfect accessory this December.

Florals in Fall

 Hat, Leggings, Boots - Target
Dress - Thrifted

This dress is one I thrifted last fall and it has proven time and time again to be a wise purchase. It's a little bit on the short side so I don't ever wear it sans leggings but I loved styling it as a kimono this spring and summer by leaving it unbuttoned with sleeveless tops & denim cut-offs, or layered over dresses. Since it's autumn I wanted to pair it with my leggings and ankle boots and of course my favorite wide brim hat. I was secretly also channeling the lovely Tieka, because all of her autumn outfits have been SO gorgeous.
I also found another new backdrop for my pictures. I have been really enjoying finding a few new locations to mix up the outfit picture's backgrounds recently, I'm sure I'm just as bored of my patio as you are, so it's been really fun getting out and finding new outdoor locations. This time I kept it pretty simple but I'm really excited to get out more once the leaves actually start changing around here. I've been looking a lot at autumn outfit pictures on pinterest and there are so many cute pictures with fall leaves and pumpkin patches. I can't wait to take some of my own soon!

A Morning Stroll

Top, Belt, Dress (worn as a skirt) - Thrifted
Hat & Boots - Target
Turquoise Jewelry - Bought in Meixco

The day these photos were taken my husband and I woke up early and decided to go for a morning walk. The air was nice and crisp and we watched the sun come up as we strolled aside cars on their way to work. It was a nice peaceful morning and it had me wishing I had a somewhat more consistent work schedule so I could enjoy more of these sunrise walks. I hope to have more mornings like this in the upcoming weeks, especially once it gets cooler. Life has been hectic this month and I'm doing my best to recognize and enjoy those still and peaceful moments when I'm offered them. It was exactly what Anthony and I needed, at just the right time. I want to make it a point to spend more time outside this autumn, it's just so refreshing and inspiring.

Fall Traditions ( & New Hair)

I updated my hair for fall a few days ago by adding in some low lights. I love changing my hair with the seasons, and with autumn just around the corner I decided I needed to darken my locks up a little bit. I think I may have to do another round of low lights in a slightly darker shade that matches my roots a little bit better however, because the difference is still rather noticeable. I'm happy with the results though and I feel like my hair is somewhat refreshed and more autumn friendly now. I'm really excited to be a brunette again. My hair is naturally an ashy brown so this is the closest to natural my hair has been in quite some time, and it feels good. I've been dyeing my hair for years now, and part of me would love to give it a rest and let me hair just grow out naturally but the other part of me gets bored so easily and is incredibly impulsive. Sigh...

That's enough about my hair. What I really would like to discuss today is Fall traditions. Not your usual assortment like celebrating holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving, although I love doing that too. What I mean is all the little things you do throughout autumn to make it feel special and unique from the other times of the year. I like decorating my home with pumpkins and baking pies, and snacking on favorite autumn snacks like pumpkin seeds or candy corn. During this time of year I also like to make more soup and take a lot of photos of autumn leaves.

 Hat, Shirt, Boots - Target
Jeans - Levis

In Autumn I also tend to wear a lot more warm toned clothing and a lot more plaids.
This year I want to make a few new traditions. I'm hoping to pick out my pumpkin at a pumpkin patch and maybe make some homemade apple cider. What are you hoping to do this fall?

Whirlwind

Since I got back into town it feel like I have been playing catch up and trying to adjust back into my normal routine. For some reason this process seems to be taking me a little longer than usual. I've already been back at work for a week & it finally dawned on me that it's already the end of the month.
July has been a huge whirlwind and I can't believe it's nearly over. How and when did that happen?

I suppose it's just because I've had a lot more going on this month than usual, but it was the good sort of busy. Aside from getting to go an a truly memorable and amazing trip, I worked a lot and did my best to really enjoy this month.
I also lightened my hair and quit plucking my eyebrows. At home we've been addicted to spinach and artichoke dip & our new favorite show Halt and Catch Fire.
July has been a pretty good month.

 Hat - Target
Maxi Dress - JCP
Booties - Target
Jewelry - F21 & purchased in Mexico

I'm still planning on sharing some pictures from my trip but I haven't even begun to shift through them yet to find the best ones, mostly because I couldn't find the time, and partially out of being lazy. I promise to share a few with you soon!
