Fancy Casual

This is one of those outfit that is really simple but somehow still makes me feel very put together. Midi skirts have that effect on me. They are both modest and chic. If you don't have a midi skirt already I strongly recommend adding one to your closet. I found this one thrifting and it's proved to be a really great purchase.

This shirt is a recent purchase from Target. I bought it to replace another striped shirt I've had for years and I am just so in love with this top. I love black and white stripes anyway but the fit of this shirt is just perfect and I love that it has a sort of high neckline.

Pairing stripes and floral together is nothing new but I really like these two paired together. Are you a fan of stripes and florals or mixing patterns?

Old Faithful

The first time I wore a T-shirt dress I fell in love. I have always been somewhat of a tomboy at heart so I've always had a love for T-shirts. Those two things go hand in hand, right? Well T-shirt dresses are just like T-shirts, but, and this is the best part, you don't have to wear pants. Awesome right? This is only my second T-shirt dress, but I wouldn't mind adding quite a few more to my collection.

If you find a good T-shirt dress, (like this one) you can easily wear it casual or dressy. I went for my usual sort of casual, but add some heels and some statement jewelry and this is perfect for a night out.
Dresses like this one are also perfect for layering, so they're transition great into colder months just by adding a cardigan and tights. Another plus is that since this dress is neutral I can easily pair it with any combination of colors. This time I decided to keep things simple and go with an all neutral outfit.

I may have to start referring to these types of dresses as my old faithfuls because I can always rely on a good T-shirt dress. What is your favorite go to clothing item?

Mint + Roses

Just another typical summer outfit. Doesn't get much more summer than mint and floral prints, but I never get tired of them. Separates also seem to be my jam this summer, it's just so easy to mix match when you have some good basic pieces in your closet, and I've been lucky enough to find some while thrifting.

I wish I had a dress with this rose and mint pattern, it would definitely get a lot of wear. I never used to think I was a floral person, until recently I realized I'm just picky about my floral prints. This one is just perfect!

Summertime Adventures

I'm still not sure if it's officially summer yet or not, but school is out and the temperatures in Texas are summer ready. I have always loved summer but this summer I am even more anxious because my husband and I have made a goal to get the most out of this summer that we can. We kicked things off last month with our first coast trip of this summer. This month we have been doing our best to enjoy time outside in Austin. These photos were snapped at The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center on a recent visit (I'll be sharing a TON of pictures from the center soon because it was so beautiful!).

It felt really great to get some fresh air and enjoy a really beautiful day. The wildflower center was an ideal place to take outfit photos as well with all of the beautiful scenery, but because of the time of day it was so so bright. Lucky for me there are also a lot of shady trees perfect for snapping pictures under. Plus, because I left without outfit photos in front of wildflowers I have an excuse to go back soon ;)

Denim on Denim

Denim on denim is one of those fashion trends that is sort of scary. Pretty much every time I think about it I picture Justin and Britney decked out from head to toe way back when. Scary stuff. That is the look that you want to avoid when trying to wear an all denim outfit.

For me getting this look right was about keeping things super simple. You don't want to make the accessories too distracting or fussy. Cognac is my favorite neutral so I, of course, decided to pair my all denim outfit with all cognac accessories. Makes sense right?

I wasn't sure I'd like wearing all denim but I was surprised at how comfortable I was wearing denim on denim. Have you tried this trend?

June Bug

I still don't think it's really sunk in that it's already June. To me June means it is officially summer. Summer in Texas means that it's about to get super hot. It can be tricky to know how to dress when the temperatures can get into the triple digits so having a skirt like this one that goes almost anything is perfect to have around.

I stuck with a favorite color pallet of olive and denim with cognac, it's so simple but somehow just works so well together.

Deja Vu

If you feel like this outfit looks slightly familiar it's because it's the summer version of this outfit I shared in February. It's more feminine and less folksy than the earlier version but as with most things lately, I decided to keep things on the simple side. You may notice that I did keep the exact same color pallet, this was not intentional, I guess I just really like these colors together ;)

This dress is one of my favorites because of it's versatility, but also because it just fits really well. The length is perfect, and obviously it's perfect to wear year round. The funny thing is I never used to wear much of the color navy. I usually would just opt for black if ever possible, I don't know when I starting giving navy a chance but I'm so glad I did because it's a really versatile and fun color to wear.

Playing Favorites

I was lucky enough to get to go thrifting right after I got back from being on vacation. Talk about getting spoiled huh? ;) The best part was that I found some really awesome stuff that has been on my 'to thrift' list, like this olive green, cargo style pencil skirt. Basically I found my dream skirt, and it cost me $5.99. Totally worth it.

I also found this striped shirt, which it may seem silly for me to pick up yet another black and white striped shirt, but this one has a really cute detail on the back... which I forgot to take pictures of, ha! Next time, I promise!

I can already tell this shirt and skirt will be new favorite pieces, because I've already been thinking of other items in my closet to wear them with. Items like this are perfect for adding to your closet because the are super versatile and easy to dress up or down.
Have you thrifted anything good lately?
