Last Days of Autumn

One of my most favorite things about autumn is the leaves changing into firey hues. They didn't even begin changing around here until late November. I've always thought of December as the beginning of winter so it seems strange to be seeing these beautiful colors still peppering the trees. Many have begun to shed their leaves so I decided to capture a few last photos of autumn before all the trees are bare. I definitely feel like I got to see so much more fall colors this year. It was pretty wonderful! This whole fall was actually pretty great, and it flew by. I know that I should expect the same from winter. Time to switch gears in to all things winter and Christmas. Goodbye fall.

Fall Leaves

Today is my birthday so I'm going to keep things short and enjoy my day :)

I always wanted to take photos like these after seeing so many like it on pinterest. Fall is my favorite season and I've done all I could to enjoy every bit of it. It feels with Thanksgiving fast approaching that winter is creeping in on us already. I do plan on taking time to enjoy these last few weeks of fall while I can, although I must admit I love wintertime as well.

Hope you're having a good weekend!

Oasis, Austin

Tonight me and the hubs met up with my parents and enjoyed a nice dinner at Oasis in North Austin for  Anthony's birthday (which was May 11th, he turned 24!). We had an awesome time and enjoyed a dinner with a view!

The food was so delicious as were the margaritas ;) catching up with family is always nice especially when you have such a beautiful view ;)

Instagram Update

Sorry for the long, unannounced hiatus! The holidays are always a hectic time, a sadly HN had to take the back burner. I did have a wonderful holiday season and have had a really amazing start to 2013 so far. I don't like to make official goals or resolutions at the beginning of the year, but I am determined to create more, cook more, and just enjoy life more. I am determined to make every year better than the last. I've been brainstorming new diy projects and recipes, as well as trying to figure out what 2013 holds for this little blog here. I hope to share a lot more photography, thrifting, crafting, baking and of course a little personal style. Not that I plan on changing everything!

Anyway, I've let myself ramble enough. Without further ado, my December 2012/ January 2013 Instagram update as the title of this post promised:

I promise it won't be another month and a half till i post this next time, and that it won't be entirely comprised of instagram photos. Bear with me though, it may be a little slow starting out as i usually schedule posts, and I don't have any scheduled at this time. Like i said however, i have a lot of ideas that i'm super excited to share with you! -R!

New Hair

I had been going back and forth for a while on whether or not I should cut my bangs. I've been growing my hair out now for over a year and have been itching to make a major change. I didn't want to cause any more damage by a color change because that could affect hair growth. The solution? Cut my bangs. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out afterall.

Autumn Checklist Progress

I am the type of person who makes checklists for everything, whether it be a to-do list, a grocery list or a wishlist, I love making lists. I find that putting my goals or ideas onto paper help makes them concrete, and also helps them stick more strongly in my memory. For some strange reason I had never thought to make seasonal checklists. I think I originally saw this over at A Beautiful Mess.
Since I'm a little late to the game I figured I can at least show my progress since October is almost over already!

- go to a pumpkin patch
- wear lots of orange
make pumpkin flavored foods
- take a lot of pictures
- try an autumn seasonal beer
- make autumn owl garland
- have a scary movie night
-try out thanksgiving recipes
- work on our wedding album
- carve pumpkins
- reorganize the apartment
- drink more coffee and chai tea
- cook and bake more
- craft and repurpose as much as possible
-crochet and read more

As you can see I still have a lot of autumn activities to get to so that I can mark (or bold, in this case) them off my checklist.

What Autumn traditions do you have that you look forward to every year?

1. This is part of the wall arrangement I've been working on in our living room. The large painting is from my parents, The small framed painting is thrifted, the A was a diy inspired by pinterest, and the little heart is a spray painted valentines tin. :)
2. Some firewood and my matching shoes!
3. Murray has discovered the joys of sun bathing.
4. A thrifted butterfly wall hanging that reminds me of my mom.
5. some flour-less peanut butter cookies that were quite the hit.
6. An owl painting I finished last year but never shared.
7. Some pretty sweet smelling trees.
8. a vintage coffee tin I thrifted.
9. my growing globe collection that was recently moved to our bedroom.

These are all just snapshots from daily life. I made it a goal to try to take more pictures and really document the little things that make life so great. It may sound silly but instagram is really helpful in helping to create pretty pictures from almost any picture you take. I like to challenge myself to be a little more inspire by the world around me and it really helps me to appreciate the little things.

What inspires you?
