Bohemian Vibes

Have you ever tried to pinpoint what 'your style' is? It's a really difficult thing for me to do. I really like vintage fashion ranging from the 1940's to the 1970's. I also live minimalistic simple clothes, but sometimes I want to feel super casual or grungy. I don't know that I'll ever be able to choose one sort of style that I like, so I guess my style is eclectic? We'll go with that.

For this outfit I was feeling Bohemian so I rolled with it. It was easy to do with this Aztec print top and some moccasins. I love boho style and I definitely want to keep my eye out for for essential boho pieces while thrifting like some amazing patterned pants, leather clogs, anything with fringe, and all thing Navajo and Aztec print. Lucky for me I live in Texas so these things aren't too difficult to come by.

May Day

May is already promising to be a really amazing month. I know we're only a few days in, but as I mentioned in my previous post, I have a whole lot going on this month. I've always like May because it always marked the beginning of summer break from school as a kid, and our annual family vacation to the beach. We still continue that tradition, so naturally I still look forward to May.

In Texas, May also brings also brings us summer weather. It's been consistently warm enough to wear sandals, dresses, and shorts every day of the week. I'm loving every second of this weather! I love getting to layer clothing in cooler months but there is something so exciting just to be able to wear outfits without tights or close-toed shoes.

This denim vest is definitely going to be in regular rotation this summer because it is the perfect accessory to breathe new life into a piece you've worn a hundred times. It looks cute paired up with pretty much every dress in my closet. I'm in love.

These aviators are also my new favorites. I scored them at the local grocery store with a coupon for less than $2. My thrifty nature knows no bounds. I'd been hunting for some aviators and these fit the bill.

Mixing Patterns Part 2

This denim dress was one of my most recent thrifting finds. I've been looking for one for a while and this was one of two that I found the other day. The other one was sleeveless and cute but ended up being too small. This one fit much better and was much more winter friendly as I saw endless layering potential.

I of course had to make this outfit a bit warmer so I wore a striped thrifted shirt underneath the dress along with my black leggings and brown zip up boots, both from Target.

I decided to add the scarf, which is actually my husband's from forever ago, and the belt at the last second and I'm glad I did. I don't mix patterns very often, but it's fun to do once in a while.
I obviously also like doing this with black and white, it just simplifies things a little.
I loved that it added a little plaid and red to make this outfit just the right amount of Christmasy.

I loved styling up this dress and can't wait to wear it more this winter. I'm also likely to just keep this scarf for myself. pretty cute, right?

The Yellow Dress

I was never a yellow person. Growing up yellow was always my least favorite color. Maybe it's because it reminded me of bananas and I never was a banana person either. Now that I'm older I've realized that yellow, and bananas aren't all that bad. Actually yellow has become one of my favorite colors. This dress is definitely one of my favorites, the bow-tie neck and the color just make me feel feminine and cheery. Just to top it all off I threw on my oxfords from target and some maiden braids.

The cardigan was purchased from target a few years ago. The belt is my favorite thrifted belt. The socks were stolen from my husband. :)

I have to admit that while styling this outfit I kept trying to add layers. I'm so ready for fall. I've just always been more of a fall person (which is really hard when you live in Texas), and this dress has a lot of potential for fall colors and layers.

Today it got up to 106 degrees here in Austin, so I guess adding a cardigan on top of this dress was just wishful thinking (which is why I'm not even wearing it in most of these pictures).
Anyone else sick of summer?

OOTD: Fall Florals

dress: Target, cardigan: Target, Tights: Target, Shoes: Target, Belt: thrifted, Necklace: American Eagle Outifitters

Thrifting has completely ruined regular shopping for me. I took a trip to target recently and found myself shocked at the prices. I can't bring myself to spend $25 on one top when I know at Goodwill that would buy me four or five. My savior is the clearance rack where I found this dress marked down to $7 from $24.99, I can live with that. I was immediately drawn to the fall floral print. It's a sleeveless dress, but thanks to this Texas weather I will probably be able to wear it all year long, as long as I pair it with a cozy cardigan and some bright tights. I love that it has so many colors in the print as I can pair it up with different tights and cardigans to create an entirely different outfit. I love dresses like that. :)
