Back to Black

Top & jeans: Liz Lange Target Maternity // Earrings: Target (old) ( similar ) // Purse & Flats: JcPenney (similar)

I think nearly everything I've worn throughout my pregnancy has been from Target or JcPenney! I guess that probably goes for my non-maternity wardrobe as well! Hah! Sponsor a girl, will ya!? :P All kidding aside I do shop at Target a lot and at one of my recent visits I came across this top in the maternity section and just had to try it on. It's really similar to a top I used to own from khol's that I just loved to pieces. I think I actually wore that top until it fell apart! This one is a little more flowy making it perfect for maternity wear but I actually think it will work well in my wardrobe after I give birth as well. I got a medium so it's not super over sized so I think it will look cute with shorts and sandals come spring/summer time. In the mean time though it's definitely one of my favorite items in my maternity wardrobe.
I love wearing black (I think most of my maternity wardrobe is black!) and these flats and this purse are perfect for the person who loves black but may also be a cognac lover as well! The flats have a small cognac detail as does the purse making them the perfect accessories for this girl. They also happen to both pair well with leopard print which is another awesome perk. I've been wearing them both constantly since I got them in December because they go with pretty much everything. Gotta love accessories that work with almost everything in your wardrobe. What are your favorite versatile accessories?

Always Olive

Top & Jeans: Target Liz Lange Maternity // Flats: Target // Satchel: JcPenney ( similar ) // Sunglasses: Heb Plus ( similar ) // Headband: Can't remember ( similar )

I asked my husband to snap a few outfit photos for me following my obgyn appointment last week after we had gotten some really great news. We were so happy and I thought capturing that moment of relief and happiness would be a great memory for outfit pictures. Long story short we had been getting the run around from the insurance company after I had been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and all that had finally been figured out and resolved. It was a great moment so I'm glad we took the time to take a few pictures.
It was also another opportunity to take some maternity outfit pictures which I've been wanting to do more of as well. This outfit is another great example of the color pallet and minimal style I've built my maternity wardrobe around. If you've followed this blog for a while you already know I love the color olive green so of course I incorporated it into my pregnancy wardrobe. This top immediately caught my eye when I saw it. I of course loved the color but also how flowy it is and the lace type detail around the neckline made it even more interesting, I wear this all the time, my only complaint is how easily it wrinkles, but I think that can be attributed to the flowy fabric that also appealed to me, so it's not that big of a deal. Anyway, I paired it with my trusty maternity jeans and some cognac accessories. Olive with cognac will always be a favorite combination of mine! I added a few gold touches in my earrings and headband for the perfect minimal pregnancy look.

Baby Shower Wear

Top & Flats: Target // Jeans: Target Liz Lange Maternity // Necklace: JcPenney

This is what I wore to Hunter's baby shower. I actually bought this top specifically to wear to the baby shower. I saw it while browsing through Target with my sister (we seriously go there at least once a week together, it's my exercise :P) and I debated on getting it or not because I'm getting so close to my due date, but decided to go ahead and pick it up because its actually not maternity and will still be cute and comfy to wear postpartum. I'm really glad I ended up getting it because I felt like I looked good that day and black and white stripes are so classic I won't cringe when I look back at pictures from that day years from now!

Anyway, the baby shower was AMAZING. It was so so perfect. A family friend threw it for us and she did such an amazing job. I was so impressed with her attention to detail and still can't thank her enough for throwing it for us, she made it such a special day that we will always remember. It was amazing to see how much Hunter is loved already. We truly have such amazing friends and family!
I was able to get a few photos but I was too busy chatting with loved ones and enjoying the day to get as many as I would have hoped. I'll get around to sharing the ones I did get soon ;)

I'm just proud of myself for getting an actual real life outfit post up. It's been awhile since I did! What's more incredible is that I already took a few more outfit photos to share soon. I may be patting myself on the back a little bit for not slacking off so badly lol. I just wanted to make sure I got a few more of my maternity wardrobe before this kid shows up, so I'll do my best to get more in the upcoming weeks :)

P.S. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day <3

Neutral Maternity Wardrobe Love

Black and White Striped Top & #1 Green Top: Target // Black and #2 Green Top: Target Liz Lange Maternity // White and Black Striped Turtleneck & Striped Taupe Top: JcPenney

Leopard Print, Congac, & Black Flats: Target // Leopard Print Slip-Ons: Old Navy // Black Flats with Cognac Trim: JcPenney

Leopard Print Scarf #1: Walmart // Navy & leopard print scarf #2: Hand me downs

Taupe & Brown Boots: Target // Black Boots: JcPenney // Cognac Boots: Metrostyle

Scarf: Walmart // Top: Target Liz Lange Maternity

I've talked a little bit of how I kept my maternity wardrobe pretty minimal and neutral and I thought I'd share a few of the clothing I've been wearing the most lately. I'll try to get a more detailed post together with me actually wearing the clothes in the future but for now this should do just fine.

I decided early on in my pregnancy that I wasn't going to go crazy buying maternity clothes, for one your body changes so quickly that there's really no point in buying a lot of clothes you will only fit in for a few weeks, and secondly even if you're lucky enough to fit in something for the entirety of your pregnancy that's still only over nine months you will get to wear it. So because of those reasons I have kept my maternity wardrobe pretty simple. I bought five maternity pieces, that's it. One pair of jeans, three tops, and one dress. Everything else I have worn during my pregnancy has been normal clothing that I sized up on. This has really worked out wonderfully for me and I'm so happy I decided to build my maternity wardrobe this way.

I should also mention that all but one of my maternity clothes have come frnom Target and the other item was a top I got from Motherhood Maternity and it was the most expensive item and also the least worn. I did look at Old Navy's maternity section a lot online but when I looked in person and tried stuff on I was not impressed and ended up leaving with only non-maternity dresses.

I also have pretty much only worn flats and bought two new pairs because my feet have gone up a half size. Most of my flats from before still fit but are a little more snug than they once were ;) my boots don't really fit at this point which is fine since the weather has been so unseasonably warm. Heels are out of the question. I tried some cute leopard print heels on at Target that were slightly too small and I couldn't walk and they got stuck on my feet. I've seen some pregnant ladies out there rock heels and I just don't know how they do it! Flats have been my best friends.

I've always loved neutrals and minimal style for my wardrobe and so I focused on that style when purchasing new items for my maternity wardrobe. There is a lot of black and white, some olive green,  a little bit of navy blue, some taupe,  my beloved leopard print, and of course blue jeans.

I love my maternity wardrobe and am so happy I decided to build it the way I did!
I'll do my best to get a few outfit photos for you all soon so you can see some of the items together and styled :) I'll stop rambling now and I'll do my best to post again real soon!
