Spring Equinox

It's finally here! After weeks of counting down till spring, and going on and on about the weather and what not, spring has finally arrived. It's official and I couldn't be more pleased. Springtime is actually a somewhat short season in central Texas because the temperatures start to get pretty high beginning in late April. I don't mind the warm temperatures that are sure to come because I'm used to our summers having temperatures in the triple digits, but I plan on making the most of the beautiful weather springtime has to offer while it's around.

We have even started to assemble our patio garden again which is one of our most favorite spring pastimes. This year we have decided to focus on a herb garden and then just have mostly succulents and cacti as we have had little success with trying to grow vegetables in containers. We did get just one little cucumber plant to give it one last go.

Rosy Outlook

Today I decided to let me feminine side take over. I suppose that since it's officially February, and Valentine's Day is only two weeks away, I wanted to wear something a little bit romantic but still casual. I put on pink lipstick, a cardigan in a nice rosy shade, and then of course I had to add something floral as well in the form of the thrifted purse.

Plus I wore lace for the first time in a while. I love the texture it adds.
This lace/crocheted top is from JCP, as are the jeans and cardigan.

I'm also wearing these awesome thrifted loafers again. They are one of my most favorite thrifted purchases to date.

What are you go to style or colors for when you want to play up your feminine side?

Matchy-Matchy

I'm not sure where most people stand with wearing matching accessories but I've always been sort of drawn to it. It's a really easy way to make an outfit feel cohesive. It's a trick I've used in my wardrobe for years. I usually stick to matching neutrals but more and more lately I've been liking color.

I got these mint sunglasses while shopping with my sister a few weeks ago from Papaya, and was delighted to find that they match this mint belt I thrifted ages ago. Gotta love happy accidents!
I decided to wear this dress I thrifted along with my new maroon cardigan from JCP.

To balance out all the color I went with my black leggings from Target and black ankle boots from JCP. Yeah more matching.

How do you feel about matching your accessories?

OOTD: Fall Florals

dress: Target, cardigan: Target, Tights: Target, Shoes: Target, Belt: thrifted, Necklace: American Eagle Outifitters

Thrifting has completely ruined regular shopping for me. I took a trip to target recently and found myself shocked at the prices. I can't bring myself to spend $25 on one top when I know at Goodwill that would buy me four or five. My savior is the clearance rack where I found this dress marked down to $7 from $24.99, I can live with that. I was immediately drawn to the fall floral print. It's a sleeveless dress, but thanks to this Texas weather I will probably be able to wear it all year long, as long as I pair it with a cozy cardigan and some bright tights. I love that it has so many colors in the print as I can pair it up with different tights and cardigans to create an entirely different outfit. I love dresses like that. :)
