In the Navy

I have to confess that when I got this dress I was only thinking about layering with it in the fall because it will be so perfect, but I've already been wearing it regularly so maybe it is just a new favorite. I love that it is simple but has a little bit of detail in the small polka dot pattern. I also love that the fabric is lightweight, perfect for layering with tights and sweaters. Navy is also also one of my new favorite colors. It's sort of like olive clothing because it can act as a neutral. I've added a few navy pieces to my closet and I think it's going to be a popular color for me this fall.

I decided to keep my styling pretty simple. I added my trusty brown wide brim fedora, my brown loafers, and some turquoise jewelry for a no fuss outfit.
The back also has a cute detail which I forgot to get a shot of so I'll have to remember to get one next time because that's another reason why I had to get this lovely dress.

A Starting Point

June has been a good month so far for Hellonovember. I've been publishing posts here for nearly four years and at times I've been unsure of what I was doing, where the blog was going, and I struggled with knowing what the future holds for HN. This has always been something I enjoy doing but running a blog takes a lot of time and it isn't easy. There aren't rules for blogging and no one tells you what to do or what needs improvement. You just sort of try things and see what you like and hope other people like it too.

This month I have really tried to look at the bigger picture and try to develop a better idea of what I hope HN will become and what I have to do to get there. It's nice to finally feel like I have a little bit figured out, and a starting point but I know I have a lot of work still to do. It just feels like some things are finally coming together.

Bohemian Vibes

Have you ever tried to pinpoint what 'your style' is? It's a really difficult thing for me to do. I really like vintage fashion ranging from the 1940's to the 1970's. I also live minimalistic simple clothes, but sometimes I want to feel super casual or grungy. I don't know that I'll ever be able to choose one sort of style that I like, so I guess my style is eclectic? We'll go with that.

For this outfit I was feeling Bohemian so I rolled with it. It was easy to do with this Aztec print top and some moccasins. I love boho style and I definitely want to keep my eye out for for essential boho pieces while thrifting like some amazing patterned pants, leather clogs, anything with fringe, and all thing Navajo and Aztec print. Lucky for me I live in Texas so these things aren't too difficult to come by.

On Repeat

I hope you like olive colored clothes as much as I do, otherwise you're probably getting bored (& we probably wouldn't get along anyway). I seriously can't get enough of this color. Next on my list of olive colored clothing to add to my closet is a dress and some shorts.

I thrifted this top on a recent trip to goodwill along with some other great clothing. I got a lot of things on my thrifting wishlist so I left pretty happy. I had actually been hunting for a good olive top for a while and I'm really happy with this one, it's so so comfy :)

Summer Uniform

It has quickly come apparent to me that throwing this denim vest over a dress is my new favorite go to look for the summer. It's just too easy and I love how it looks every time. Denim is just SO versatile. I definitely recommend adding a denim piece other than jeans to your wardrobe, whether it be a denim jacket or a vest. They go with nearly everything.

I also finally go my hands on some aviators (they're an incredibly cheap pair but they do they job and they look cute, so I'm happy), I seriously don't know how I lived without some for so long. I love classic pieces and it doesn't get much more classic or timeless than denim and aviators ;)

Adding classic and timeless pieces into my wardrobe is something that has been really motivating a lot of my most recent purchases, and I'm sure this will only continue during this summer. I'm really dying to go thrifting again soon to look for more items like these for my summer wardrobe. It seems like it's been ages since I got to scratch that thrifting itch ;)

On The Road

Well the day that I had been counting down to has finally come. I got work over nice and early, and have begun the first leg of our little trip, which involves dropping off the pup and cat for their own little vacation. In the past I have been horrible with keeping up with outfit photos on trips, but I know I'm missing out on some great photo opportunities so I'm trying to make it a point to take more this trip.

Plus the weather warmed up and it was nice enough to wear a dress with no tights, no cardigan, and sandals. I'm glad the weather came around because I was definitely starting to worry!
There's nothing worse that being super excited for a trip only to have crappy weather the whole time. (knock on wood for me!) Either way I'm determined to make the most out of this time off because it's the first vacation we've had since Christmas.

I don't have an especially stressful job or anything, but I think life is too short to work all the time, and both me and my husband love to travel. Little trips like this are so nice for recharging and just being able to catch our breath again. I always come back feeling refreshed and inspired, and right now that's exactly what I need.

I also love road trips, for singing in the car, cruise control, and scenic views. I have waited for this trip for months now, and I'm over the moon that it's finally here. /endrant/.

May Flowers

I can hardly believe that mother's day, (and also my Husband's birthday!) have come and gone. I told you guys May was going to be another quick month. I'm glad that time has been going by pretty quickly though, because now my coast trip is only days away.

I always get so excited for this annual coast trip, and all the preparation has made me that much more anxious. It's a vicious cycle really. The weather around here hasn't been exactly beach friendly though so maybe it's good to have a few days. Can you tell I'm just trying to convince myself at this point?

May Day

May is already promising to be a really amazing month. I know we're only a few days in, but as I mentioned in my previous post, I have a whole lot going on this month. I've always like May because it always marked the beginning of summer break from school as a kid, and our annual family vacation to the beach. We still continue that tradition, so naturally I still look forward to May.

In Texas, May also brings also brings us summer weather. It's been consistently warm enough to wear sandals, dresses, and shorts every day of the week. I'm loving every second of this weather! I love getting to layer clothing in cooler months but there is something so exciting just to be able to wear outfits without tights or close-toed shoes.

This denim vest is definitely going to be in regular rotation this summer because it is the perfect accessory to breathe new life into a piece you've worn a hundred times. It looks cute paired up with pretty much every dress in my closet. I'm in love.

These aviators are also my new favorites. I scored them at the local grocery store with a coupon for less than $2. My thrifty nature knows no bounds. I'd been hunting for some aviators and these fit the bill.
