Changing Seasons

This is the last outfit post before I debut my Autumn hair. I've always loved changing my hair with the seasons, Summer makes me want to lighten my hair and Autumn makes me want to go back to darker hair. I didn't go quite as dark as I did last year and I'm pretty happy with my current hair color. I promise I'll share it here soon.

You may recognize this outfit from a little sneak peek in my knotted headband post, I probably should have done separate photos but I really liked how this outfit shoot turned out. I have been really enjoying pre-fall layering this year. Pre-fall layering is basically mixing and matching items from your summer and fall wardrobe to get the best from both seasons. On this day I wore my favorite olive jeans. This is a go to item in my closet that I tend to grab when I want to wear and outfit that is comfortable, casual, and cool. I added on a fall black and white plaid flannel shirt and some black summer sandals.

I love layering with button-up shirts for a casual autumn look.
I'm also loving the texture my diy knotted headband added to the outfit. Crochet and knit texture is one of my favorite details of fall and winter clothing, and this headband will be a fun new way to play with texture this season.

Ending August

August may have been the quickest month so far this year, but this time I really don't mind. August was never one of my favorite months, possibly because I associate it with the heat of summer, and this year more than ever I am excited for autumn. Autumn has always been my favorite season and after another sweltering Texas summer I am more than ready for cooler temperatures. Lucky for me it has been overcast enough for me to pretend fall has arrived a little early.

Early fall is my favorite time to mix and match my favorite pieces from summer and fall. For this outfit I paired light layers with my summer sandals. Layering is the key element I like to use to transition my summer wardrobe staples into fall. As the temperature drop you can just increase the number of layers and pieces involved.

I think my favorite layering pieces this year are scarves and vests. I'm keeping my eye out for some awesome scarves while thrifting and I might even crochet a few myself soon.
How do you transition you summer clothes into fall?

A Little More Natural

This year I have been trying to make some small changes towards becoming more eco-friendly and more "green". I knew that in order to make these changes stick I would have to make little changes, a little at a time. The truth is I got off to a pretty slow start. Austin is a plastic bag free town so we began by using reusable bags, and since we live in an apartment that offers a few recycling options we began recycling whatever we could. Slowly I have been making a few changes in our home as well to switch to more natural products when I can or whenever something runs out.

I have to say that I'm impressed with how natural and organic products are so easily accessible because I was expecting to have to look a little but I have found some natural options for hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, and sponges, all at my local grocery store. Lately however I have been wondering if there isn't some other ways I can be making changes. I am interested I making my home a greener and more organic place in anyway I can.

If you can recommend any organic or natural products you think I should try I would love to hear from you. I am interested in anything from clothing, to bedding, to beauty products.

Summer Ease

I'm back from my trip & have a ton of pictures to share but I wanted to pop in for a quick outfit post before I do. This is a pretty typical summer outfit for me. Easy & no fuss are what I'm all about. I stick two my black and white stripes and denim because I know they can both do no wrong.

Most of my favorite clothing pieces this summer have been separates much like this skirt & top. They are perfect for mixing and matching, and that makes getting dressed incredibly easy.
