Shades Of Blue

 Dress & Belt: Thrifted // Vest: Target // Scarf & Sandals: Hand-Me-Downs

I thrifted this dress last year & it has to be one of the most comfortable items of clothing I own. I don't really need an excuse to wear tie-dye but throw in the fact that it's a maxi dress & incredibly comfortable & I'm sold.
Also you may notice this is a rare indoor outfit photo post. I'm finally in my new apartment and haven't had a chance to scope out good spots for pictures, so I settled on my living room for now. They look alright but I'm eager to find some pretty outdoor spots near by because the wildflowers around here are gorgeous & would make for a great backdrop. The real issue is getting the courage to take outfit photos in front of people because that always makes me feel a little silly. Time to face my fears I guess ;)

Cypress & Wine

Shirt, belt, glasses & loafers- Thrifted

I think I mentioned in a recent post that a big part of fall for me is making homemade soups and baking. Last year I made a big effort to try out some new recipes and I ended up cooking and sharing some really great soups including Two Potato & Rosemary Soup, Chicken Tortilla Soup, and White Chicken Chili. Of course this year I have already been making my favorite soups again but I'm also looking to try out some new soups and chili's to add to me recipe stash. I've already found a few new recipes that I'm excited to share. Now I want to get some fall baking done. I'm on the hunt for a new pie to try out as well as some cookies. Any recommendations?

The September Dress

Over the past year it's become increasingly clear that my style has changed since I began this blog. I'm not surprised, because after all time has that affect on things.  People change overtime and so does their taste in many things, including clothing. Trends and fads can influence and perpetuate these changes. In my case, since I don't purchase new clothing frequently I notice these things a little bit more than the average bear. This dress was bought a few years ago. I can remember wanting to add more floral clothing into my wardrobe, and this dress caught my eye on the Target clearance rack because of it's color.

I thought that this dress would be the perfect fall floral. It has great autumn colors in the floral pattern and the dress is comfortable and doesn't wrinkle. All in all things added up in my head and I made the purchase. For whatever reason I just never wear this dress. I think it's because it's a summer style with a fall print and the only time I can wear this dress is in September. Every fall I fail to find a way to layer it that I like it stays in my closet, unworn.

I decided to dust it off and style it at least one more time before retiring it. I still have a soft spot for the fall floral but even paired with my favorite hat and vest I'm not satisfied with how this outfit looks. I guess that just goes to show you that my style has changed quite a bit since I began sharing outfits on HN. I think that kind of progression is good and I'm glad to have this blog to be able to notice those little everyday details.

How has your style grown & changed in the past few years?

Ending August

August may have been the quickest month so far this year, but this time I really don't mind. August was never one of my favorite months, possibly because I associate it with the heat of summer, and this year more than ever I am excited for autumn. Autumn has always been my favorite season and after another sweltering Texas summer I am more than ready for cooler temperatures. Lucky for me it has been overcast enough for me to pretend fall has arrived a little early.

Early fall is my favorite time to mix and match my favorite pieces from summer and fall. For this outfit I paired light layers with my summer sandals. Layering is the key element I like to use to transition my summer wardrobe staples into fall. As the temperature drop you can just increase the number of layers and pieces involved.

I think my favorite layering pieces this year are scarves and vests. I'm keeping my eye out for some awesome scarves while thrifting and I might even crochet a few myself soon.
How do you transition you summer clothes into fall?
