Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, ATX Pt.2

 Last week me and my husband visited The Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin and spent an afternoon exploring. I shared a few photos from the first part of our visit here.

The wildflower center was so so beautiful & I strongly recommend visiting if you're ever in Austin.

 We mostly walked the trails and checked out a few of the gardens and habitat displays in the center. They're full of displays containing information about all the plants that are native to Texas, and scattered with picnic tables.

 There is also a restaurant area and a gift shop on the grounds but we didn't go into either. As I mentioned in the next post we were making plans to return sometime this summer with a picnic in tow. I just need to thrift the perfect picnic basket now.

 That concludes my pictures from my adventures at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center. We had an amazing afternoon there, walking the trails and learning a little bit.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, ATX

Yesterday I mentioned my recent visit to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and today I'm here with the first portion of my visit. There was a lot to do and see, but because of the heat we didn't stay as long as we would have liked. We did decide that we wanted to try to see as much as we could while we were there so we fit a lot of sight seeing into a short time period. It was so worth it though because the scenery was truly breath taking.

 This waterfall was one of our favorite parts, especially after sweating in the heat! You aren't allow to get into the water or swim, but you can cool off by dipping your feet in.

There were also a ton of little activities to entertain kids scattered along the trails throughout the property as well as picnic tables, so this place would definitely be great for families.  

 We walked a few of the trails and saw a lot of wild flowers, trees, and plants native to Texas. It was a truly perfect way to spend a summer afternoon. We quickly decided that we'd like to revisit sometime soon, maybe even with a picnic.

 I didn't want to post way too many pictures in one post, so I decided to continue sharing photos from our visit to The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in a second installment very soon, so stay tuned for part two ;)

Port Aransas, Texas Pt. 3

 

We only spent a few days in Port Aransas, and for us this trip was about relaxing as much as possible. We spent a lot of time on the beach enjoying the sound of the waves and soaking up some much needed sun. We snuck in some Dairy Queen because it is a little tradition for my family, and really who needs an excuse for a burger with fried jalapeno strips, and a steak finger basket?

 

 We checked in some local shops to look at shells but went home empty handed this year because we didn't find anything we just couldn't live without. Either way I love checking out local shops when I have a chance.

 We were both lucky enough to leave the beach without getting sunburned, which I think is a first for both of us. I've been doing my best to be better about reapplying sunscreen this year and so far so good. ;)

My favorite part about our beach trip this year was all the sunrises we got to enjoy, there was some seriously beautiful sunrises. As always our time in Port Aransas was too short.

Port Aransas, Texas Pt. 2

While on our trip in Port Aransas we met up with my Anthony's parents and brothers for a little fishing. Despite the fact that I have been visiting Port Aransas since my childhood I had never been out on a boat fishing in the Gulf. It was a fun new experience even though I didn't catch anything. Ha!

 

Where we were set up there was some shallow water that was covered in shells. While the boys fished me and my mother in law sorted through hermit crabs to find shells that weren't already occupied. There were soo many hermit crabs of all different sizes and pelicans and seagulls everywhere. Watching the wildlife is always one of my favorite parts!

I definitely wouldn't mind returning to see if I can't change my luck. Something about fishing is just relaxing, and even if I fail to catch a fish at least I know I can be entertained watching the others while sipping on some beer and enjoying the scenery.

Port Aransas, Texas Pt. 1

 Well I told you guys I'd be taking a lot of pictures and I'm going to deliver. This is the first installment of my travel log pictures from my anniversary trip to Port Aransas, Texas. Port Aransas is just outside of Corpus Christi on the Texas Coast. My family has been visiting Port Aransas since before I was born and we've taken a trip there at least once a year since I was born. When me and Anthony were just dating back in 2006 when we were high school juniors, he joined us on this trip and has been going there ever since (In a strange coincidence his family had been taking annual trips to the neighboring Mustang Island since his childhood). It is because of our strong ties to this city that we decided to get married on the beach in Port Aransas just one year ago.

 We decided to return to celebrate our one year anniversary since we had yet to visit the beach so far this summer. As I mentioned in my outfit post it was storming off and on during our visit but we did manage to capture a lot of pictures, what I wasn't able to take during this trip I have supplemented with pictures of Port A from previous years.

 Fins is one of our favorite restaurants in Port Aransas and we always make sure to get lunch there. They have some really amazing coconut shrimp and delicious crab cakes (as well as burgers if seafood isn't your thing).

And we were of course celebrating our anniversary so we had to have some drinks!

 

We were lucky enough to be able to bring our animals along for the trip and because of that Zane got to visit the beach for the second time. He was so cute playing fetch with a huge walking stick we found on his first visit.

It was so great being able to revisit the city we got married in for our anniversary and we enjoyed some much need relaxation.
